Connection: Commentary on Memory

Monotype Prints

These monotype prints represent the fear of losing connection and forgetting about the connections we once had through their positive and negative prints. More directly, they are inspired by Alzheimer’s disease. The string represents our earthly ties and relationships—what we make of the world. By adding and removing its color, we can see how we change with their absence and how their absence affects the world around them. If we don’t have connections and memories of people, places, or things, what else do we have that makes us human?
