Irises

After losing her great-grandma in 2016, Ashley has associated Irises with her. It seems, the flower can act like a portal to wherever the “lost” are and this reality. Whenever Ashley feels she is rushing life, which is often, Irises remind her to “open at her own pace” and the simple fact that we all end up in the same place eventually.

“Purple Haze”, colored pencil, 5x8in, 2016.

“Iris”, acrylic on canvas, 11x14in, 2020.
